360 XQMX Residency for Creatives
“Points of Connection” is an outdoor living installation. Formed amongst a grove of trees at Garden of Dreams near Lake Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico. “Points of Connection” was the culmination on my observations into multiple intersections all ‘pollinating’ one another, both natural and human-made. Each day of my residency, I would meander in the area and observe, noticing the convergence of interconnections. Upon my return to the studio, I would create marks and drawings of my witnessing; the amazing latticework of spider webs, networks of power lines up and down the streets, and various plant vines climbing and interlacing over homes and buildings. At the same time, I was also aware of an integral confluence of artists continually coming together to share practices and ideas. I collected ephemera from each of these many artists, incorporating a piece of their sharing into the woven installation. The woven fabric of the installation was created from both local plant vines and natural jute.
