Greater Longfellow Neighborhood Artist in Residence: Her Story Project

Whose voice gets heard? How do I integrate my vulnerability with my strength? How is being an artist an asset to my community? Where do I wish my force of creativity to have an impact? How do I chart new territory in the unknown?

I collaborated with several neighborhood associations and creative activists to uplift projects relating to social action and justice. Out of this bloomed the Her Story Project, a dialogue on whose voice gets heard and owning authentic power in a patriarchal system. All of my creations include found objects from cleaning and sweeping the streets of my community after the burning and rioting of my Minneapolis neighborhood following the murder of George Floyd. I am interested in my materials as a means of communication, individually and collectively.
